Food
Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.
Food is central to all human activities, and is a major driver of worldwide effort and transportation. Many of the foods we buy in the grocery store are produced from around the world and shipped/trucked to local markets. Your purchasing power gives you the ability to affect how environmentally friendly are both the production and transportation of the food you buy.
Here's some
more information on how to make the best choices, that are local,
organic, and sustainable. Check out the navigation to the left on local food, CSAs, farmer's markets, pick-your-own, and more.
There is so much information available online, but a good place to start (besides exploring our very own local food guides) is the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services website. Happy eating.
