Tours
Get a behind-the-scenes look at VIMS!
Reserve space on our public tours to learn more about VIMS and the ongoing research activities around campus. These 90-minute, guided tours are designed for adults with older children (10 and up welcome).
- All tours include a guided interpretation of VIMS’ Visitors Center — including an opportunity to view our gag grouper, catsharks, oyster toadfish and more — and a visit to two research laboratories/facilities.
- Tours take place from 10:00 - 11:30 AM (unless otherwise noted on the calendar item) and are free.
- Each date will offer visits to different laboratories—so you’re welcome to join us for more than one tour! Check the details on each tour listing for more info.
- Please make sure you have proper footwear for the tour (closed-toe, comfortable shoes required).
- If special accommodation (e.g. mobility issues, hearing assistance) is needed, please e-mail programs@vims.edu after you have registered for the tour.
- Space is limited in labs and reservations must be made in advance. Walk-ups will not be permitted to join. VIMS tours are not suitable for children under 10 years of age.
